About Me

My name is Immanuel. I am passionate about supporting clients to gain new insights and make choices that enhance their quality of life.  I hold a Masters in Counselling and Applied Psychotherapy  ( Jansen-Newman Institute ), and am a level 4 member of the Australian Counselling Association ( i.e. a senior member,  with many years of experience. )

I currently see both private counselling clients, clients referred to me from NSW Victims Services , and clients from Employee Assistance Programs I am affiliated with.

If a client wishes to work on a trauma related issue, I am an accredited EMDR therapist, a form of therapy frequently used to help people resolve and heal from significant trauma. I also teach clients a deceptively simple technique called Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).

I have a particular interest in showing people how to question their thinking, particularly untrue and non reality based thoughts.  "Nothing is good or bad but 'tis thinking makes it so..."

Simultaneously I  work with clients to build their willingness and capacity to feel their feelings.

"Sometimes instead of trying to feel better, it can be helpful to first get better at feeling"

I enjoy working with cultural creatives - for eg. writers, actors, animators, dancers, directors, musicians, painters and sculptors - and the particular challenges that come with those vocations.

My own well being practices include regular exercise, singing in an acapella choir, and practicing and sometimes teaching Ti Chi /Chi Gong. The last two offer an embodied way of working with myself and others, that supports mindful and healthy wellbeing.
