About Me
My name is Immanuel. I am passionate about supporting clients to gain new insights and make choices that enhance their quality of life. I hold a Masters in Counselling and Applied Psychotherapy ( Jansen-Newman Institute – 2011-2014 ), and am a level 4 member of the Australian Counselling Association ( i.e. a senior member, with more than 2000 hours of face-to-face client contact. )
I currently see both private counselling clients, and clients referred to me from Employee Assistance Programs I am affiliated with.
I have a particular interest in teaching people how to question their thinking, particularly untrue and non reality based thoughts. I work with men to enhance the quality of their lives by building their willingness and capacity to feel their feelings. I find it rewarding to work with older people who are navigating retirement, health issues, relocation and bereavement. Lastly, I enjoy working with cultural creatives - for eg. writers, actors, dancers, directors, musicians, painters and sculptors.
I spent many years helping to facilitate More To Life Programmes.
From 2018 'til 2023 I was a recovery case manager at a non-profit. I worked with a variety of clients who had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, OCD, treatment resistant depression, acquired brain injuries, borderline personality disorder, or as being on the autism spectrum, and supported these clients on their recovery journey.
I practice and teach Ti Chi/Chi Gong, both for my own wellbeing and as an embodied way of working with people and supporting mindful and healthy being.
